November 2014 Newsletter

CST News

Where has the year gone? Already half way through November and only about five weeks till Christmas. Sue has a break away organised for us – off to Haast Beach for a few days so we will have Christmas Day there and then to make things just so much better, our two boys will arrive with families to spend some time there with us. It is just so great spending family time where the atmosphere is not rushed and the grandchildren can just safely do their thing with plenty of parents and grandparents to keep an eye on them. Then home just before New Year to see the eldest daughter who is spending a few days at Papatowai. So a good family Christmas coming up.

The other family news for those who remember my kids is that Wendy was in Rarotonga earlier this month and came home with a broken toe!! Taking after her mother breaking assorted bones!

Sue and I have just had a weekend away in Queenstown – beautiful weather, good food, lots of walking. What more could a man want?

We have had a busy month since last newsletter with sales well up. A number of local businessmen commented that things had slowed prior to the election. Maybe they were correct in that now the election is over and some stability is likely, people seem happier to put their hands in their pockets and spend again. Let’s just hope that the dairy payout moves upwards in the near future. That would certainly be a good Christmas present!

Finally I had a call a week or so back from a customer who had been pestered by a caller from “Windows”. The customer told the caller that she had local people look after her computer and did not need help and hung up. The caller called back another 5 times before the customer called me. They are obviously getting incredibly persistent. Just make sure you do not let them into your computer. I would much sooner have a late phone call to reassure you than have you on the doorstep with a hacked computer.phone scam

Second Hand Laptop

I advertised these in the last newsletter but they are such a good deal, I thought I would bring them to your attention again.

They are from a new supplier and their condition is absolutely stunning – just like brand new. As well, the latest batch are in fact not out of the manufacturer’s three year warranty and have about 6 months to go.

Unfortunately, the model we advertised in the last newsletter is now sold out but the suppliers are offering the next model up in the range. This has meant a slight price increase but a further lift in specs and drop in age.

Battleships Online

For those of you who remember playing this game years ago, here is the electronic version. I certainly remember playing the pen and paper version as a kid. You do not need a partner to play this and it feels good to beat the computer!

Interesting Job Advert

I recently saw this ad in the Situations Vacant of the ODT and thought how great it was to see someone making a stand about hats and hoodies and all the other trivia that annoys me more as I get older.
